Harmonium 101Debra Marks

This introductory workshop is a great way to learn to play the harmonium, or to refresh your practice ♪ No musical experience or instrument needed, but if you have one, wipe off the dust and bring it 😊! By the end of our 2-hours together, you will be playing chords, vibrational scales, and singing together if you are so inspired! We will explore the basics of harmonium play, learn Western notes, chords and melody, use breath practices to enhance play, song and care for your voice. You will also receive a book of cards with tips, basic chords & familiar mantra, kirtan and devotional songs.
2-hour session = $40 Class size is limited so please prepay to reserve your spot
About the instructor: Debra Marks is a yoga teacher, clinical psychologist, and an “acoustic historian,” forever curious about how we narrate our lives across the years though music and song. Debra walks the path of Bhakti yoga, practicing love and devotion of the Divine. She has played harmonium and chanted mantra for over 6 years, deeply inspired by the loving kindnesses of Krishna Das, Nina Rao, Deva Premal, Snatam Kaur, Durga Das, Sean Johnson & Wild Lotus, Lobo Marino, Bhakti Kulani and her Roanoke Bhakti community. She is a founding member of the Joy Consultants and hosts a monthly kirtan gathering in Roanoke (fb/kirtanfusion)
