Yoga for Addictions with Cori Phillips
November 3 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm$65 – $80
A Workshop for Students and Yoga Teachers
(Uttara TT Graduates receive discount – Pay directly at the studio or contact us)
Addiction is now an epidemic and most of us struggle with some form of it, whether it’s an accepted substance like sugar, a stigmatized substance like heroin, or a behavioral addiction like gambling or shopping. In this workshop led by Mental Health Counselor and Yoga Instructor Cori Phillips, you will learn why addiction affects most of us, and how regular yoga practice can alleviate symptoms, calm the addictive drive, and often send addictions into remission. This workshop is open to all levels (no prior yoga experience required) and is appropriate for individuals struggling with addiction (of any kind…even sugar or caffeine!) or for professionals who want to help others (mental health professionals, physicians, nurses, yoga teachers, etc). This experience will include lecture on addiction and yogic philosophy, as well as gentle yoga movement and practical instruction accessible to anyone!
Cori Phillips is a licensed professional counselor and a certified yoga instructor. Cori found yoga as a teenager after suffering a severe spinal injury in a horseback riding accident. She used yoga to help her body heal, but become increasingly aware of the profound positive effects yoga also had on her mind, emotions, and spirit. Yoga teacher training quickly become a life goal, and she completed the 200 hr training at Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC in 2014. Since then she has taught in studio environments, created independent workshops, and has found exciting ways to utilize yoga in talk therapy. Cori strives to create unique and profound experiences for all students by integrating her knowledge in both mental health and yoga, and especially loves teaching about how yoga can help overcome universal human struggles like stress, addiction, trauma, anxiety, and other mental health disturbances.
